Hey Meeps, get ready to level up your gaming experience because we're on the brink of unleashing something EPIC!

We've been inundated with queries about our custom game tables and ultra-cozy chairs and we’re getting very close to being able to offer these for sale! The Ark and Ark-Mini game tables and chairs will initially be sold through a Kickstarter campaign as it allows for a low-risk solution to bringing new products to a global market.

We know it’s taken like forever to get to this point but the time has not been wasted! We’ve been working on making the tables lighter, stronger and packed with amazing upgrades like matching accessories, an innovative hidden magnetic solution to fix the table covers and accessories in place, mains and battery power solutions and USB-C and USB-A charging ports - to name a few.

We are not skimping on quality - our tables and chair are designed to last a life-time!

Check out the teaser video to get a sneak glimpse from our factory of what’s coming and stay turned as in the coming weeks we’ll be providing more details on how you can get your hands on The Ark, The Ark Mini and our leather cushioned chairs!

Do you have a page on Kickstarter we can follow or another way to be alerted once it's live? Very keen to back this but not on Facebook that much.

Jonathan Newcombe, didn’t you mention the tables or was it Tim Newcombe?

Are you looking at ways to reopen??

As we close our doors, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone for the overwhelming support, condolences, and love we've received over the past few days! Your messages and the record attendance at our store have vividly reminded us of the vibrant community of game enthusiasts we serve. While it's bittersweet to say goodbye, the decision is necessary (for now).

A special thank you to our incredible team—Matt, Alys, Jacob, and Cornell—for their dedication and professionalism. You will always be a part of the Meepleopolis family.

So what's next?

We're going to take a short break to recharge and will return with exciting updates about our education programs later this month. Additionally, our online retail store and rental library will reopen in May. And for all of you asking about our tables and chairs we are aiming to have the long overdue Kickstarter up and running late May / June.

The future of our physical store remains uncertain, but we're considering all options. We would love your feedback: please share in the comments what you loved about Meepleopolis and any areas where you think we can improve. Your honest input will guide our decisions as we continue our mission of educating and strengthening communities through games.

We'll be back soon but until then, thank you for being a part of our journey and we look forward to your feedback.

We loved that it existed! Encouraging/acknowledging/validating indoorsy pursuits as well as ones oriented around adrenaline, risk, 'tough it out regardless of the weather' vibes etc. I felt like it was a 'hey, you count too' to those of us with homebody kids (or chronic illness adults) in the mix. The flipside of course is that these types aren't always keen to go out 🙃 Even if it's to a chilled, comfortable space like yours. Like others have said above, the two hour installment was a bit of a downside but it makes sense economically; you're not running a free community library! I found it to be a bit on the pricey side too, BUT we also don't get out much, so don't have much to compare it to (i.e. other indoor activities where you spend a few hours and you eat and drink). The event/side room was a great idea, and I recommended it to at least one group (who's non-urgently looking for a new occasional venue). Would have been great to try it out for a birthday party too. I found your staff to be reliably chilled, pleasant and helpful. It was great having regular social media posts too, to help me remember it as an option for outings. Hope your recharge break is exactly that, and that you find some sustainable ways forwards. I wonder about collaborating with after-school / school holiday programmes, or contacting hobby/workshop groups as potential event room users. E.g. the Riverlution Eco Hub might use you as an overflow location for their workshops, or Delta Community Trust, or craft/book groups etc.

Loved the atmosphere! It was such a pleasure running the quizzes there, thank you for the opportunity!

I loved the tournaments. I always had a fun time playing with random people, who I got to know after a few tournaments. Staff were very helpful and friendly. I liked the setup of the place in the CBD, but it must have cost you a bomb for that location and kitchen. You will be missed.

I didnt pop in very often as I don't live in Chch, but I made a point of coming in every time I was in town. Meepleopolis was such a great store. I always enjoyed my visits and would always recommend it first to my friends in Chch. Raise your glass to the memory of a Fantastic store and community. 🍻

Visited you for the first time on Friday, and was so impressed with the space and the idea! The game Matt was running that night was amazing 🔥 Great coffee, lots of space to play with friends. I love the idea of the rent library, that would be great to see the posts about the library and rent options more often. I wish I could’ve rented more often, there were so many great games at the store⭐️ The events looked wonderful, and I wanted to come to them, but unfortunately I couldn’t figure out how to book through website to receive a confirmation. I hope that helps, thank you so much for your hard work! We hope to see you soon, stronger and better💪

Very sad to see you close. Glad the the game rental scheme will continue. I think your business tried to cover it all and only you will truly know what side/s of the business were not sustainable, I would’ve loved to have seen you continue in a scaled back form rather than close completely. Some of the reasons I did not visit as often as when you were in town were that when I did come in you seemed to have less games to play than before, or was that just my imagination? Also I didnt like the 2hr play time restriction, and the fact that it was no longer free with food purchase : both those reasons made you feel like you had to choose one or the other - it got pricey having to pay for both and eating cut into play time. I also preferred the food you served in your town location. All businesses need time to grow, more than a few months. I wish you luck with your online sales and rentals.

Now is such a tough time to own a business. Take some time, operate a lean model for a while, and come back when people have more spending money.

So sorry you closed down I had just recommended you to a friend and now realised you have closed. I only came in twice but really enjoyed trying new games.

A rental library might be a way to go that means you don't need the physical store for the time being! I'd love the option to try some games out before committing to purchase them!

So sorry to hear it!

Oh no, you barely re-opened and the location was great :(

That's awful to hear. Did the move and new location not work out so well?

One would have thought you would have stayed open for the school holidays as I’m sure that would have had a bit of interest during those two weeks.

I only had the opportunity to visit Meepleopolis a couple of times but it was easily the best board game bar/cafe I’ve ever been to. Does Christchurch just not have the player base for you? So sad to see you close but hoping there is something in the future for you.

Well that's super sad. Such a great concept, location and setup

That's a real shame, thank you for all the good times and I hope the online store works out for you.

I'm sorry to hear this too. You guys had an awesome idea and a cool layout. I hope you try again in the future! ❤️

I'm so sorry to hear this, it was such a great concept. I hope everyone involved is okay.

So sad to hear this, Meepleopolis is one of my fave places in the city :(

Oh no - we were planning to come and play some games in the holidays. I'm so sorry it hasn't worked out.

So gutted, we are travelling to chch tomorrow and we're planning a trip to your store. 😭

Wow I'm so sorry. This is a shock. I hope everything is OK.

Gutted for you all

Tory Price

I just joined up last week and told you I was hiring games, that's not fair to sign me up without saying anything to me. So disappointed that it has cost me $35 to hire 2 games.
